PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Senior Manager of Warehouse & Logistics is responsible for management of logistics, warehousing, and distribution of all manufactured and import products. This person will manage domestic and international freight movements and warehousing, develop, and execute all transportation and logistics, identify cost reducing initiatives for improvements in transportation, and optimize the distribution process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Overall responsibility for management of logistics, warehousing, and distribution of products coming into and distributed in North America.
  • Manage domestic and international freight movements and warehousing of product in and distributing product from North American warehouses. Develop and execute all transportation and logistics.
  • Identify cost reducing initiatives for improvements in traffic management. 
  • Investigate competitive distribution services for transportation improvements and implement selected programs on time and on budget.
  • Work with carriers to obtain POD, filing claims, expediting shipments, and meeting service standards.
  • Develop the most logistic/cost efficient routings for shipments as requested. Work with providers to ensure compliance with these routings is met.
  • Develop and manage business relationships with providers including monitoring negotiated contracts to ensure quality and service requirements are being achieved.
  • Track the performance metrics, including on-time delivery and quality assurance ratings.
  • Negotiate rates, services, and routings in a cost effect manner.
  • Communicate to the appropriate individuals any improvements and changes to processes and promote a team environment.
  • Provide feedback to the supply chain management team to properly package, label and deliver products to the appropriate customers.
  • Generate and implement cost savings initiatives throughout the organization.
  • Ensure that all rate tables are current and freight payables are up to date. Ensure all freight metrics are accurate and communicated on time.
  • Manage and oversee customs clearance of global products.
  • Oversee the scheduling and delivery of global containers.
  • Develop and manage the transportation budget.
  • Overall planning, organization and control of all warehousing and shipping operations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategically manage the warehouse in alignment with the company’s goals, policies, and vision.
  • Execution of computerized warehouse systems and provide input on how these processes can be most productive and utilized to their fullest capacity.
  • Oversee picking, packing, receiving, shipping, quality control, value-added services, inventory control and distribution activities.
  • Plan work schedules, assign tasks and projects appropriately and appraise results.
  • Ensure that the physical layout of the warehousing, shipping, and receiving areas are optimized and efficient.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat; maintaining clean shipping supply area; complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Assist in coaching, performance, and development of employees ensuring high operational standards.
  • Create policies and procedures for warehousing and logistics activities.
  • Problem resolution regarding warehousing and shipping operations.
  • Receiving and shipping operations to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness objectives.
  • Verify the accuracy of products pulled to transfer documentation for delivery to other branches.
  • Manage stock to ensure optimal availability of material and tools without compromising on excessive stock.
  • Control documentation of all activities and control communication on order status.
  • Work on inventory management and organization with other departments.
  • Schedule inventory check and audits on a regular basis.
  • The issue cycle counts to warehouse employees. Review counts and location accuracy. Update inventory and locations as necessary per Inventory SOP.

  • Able to be perceptive and have a strong awareness of surroundings to identify potential risks and communicate these risks to employees
  • Successful track record of achieving plant operational goals.
  • Experience driving and supporting innovative manufacturing systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to demonstrate practical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting and implementing organization development and human resources initiatives.
  • Business knowledge of budget, asset, and cost structure management
  • Excellent organizational and teamwork skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow established policies and procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office
  • Ability and willingness to work core hours to support the needs of different shifts

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a complex environment, drive performance, meet goals and drive continuous improvement
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Experience with a Warehouse Management System (WMS), such as M3, EXE, PKMS, or other top-tier software system.
  • Strong management and leadership skills and demonstrated ability to effectively manage a diverse group of employees and build a team culture. 
  • Experience managing operating costs and budgets. 
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations, including OSHA and DOT compliance.
  • Strong communications skills. 
  • In depth understanding of P&L, budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated track record in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of an operation including improving supplier performance.
  • Have experience in managing multiple warehouse operations.
  • Knowledgeable in international customs requirements and operations.
  • Experience in managing a successful automated freight payment program.
  • Must be able to successfully complete and pass a background check, employment verification and drug screening
