Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Student Worker - Office of the Registrar - Proctor Examiner. The proctor examiner plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and fair administration of exams such as TEAS. Proctors also maintain the integrity of the testing process and uphold the examining body's standards. A proctor may supervise between 5-30 students per exam session.

Core Responsibilities:

* Maintaining confidentiality of exam content at all times as well as ensuring examinee's information is protected, adhering to privacy regulations and guidelines.

* Enforcing rules and procedures of the exam including exam instructions, time limits, copyright information and any additional regulations per exam.

* Prepare examination area prior to testing date such as ensuring testing computers are working, testing materials/supplies are available, arranging tables, etc.

* Checking in examinees; verifying identification such as a government-issued ID.

* Supervise examinees throughout the duration of the exam; reporting and writing incident reports in the event an examinee is caught cheating and/or displaying suspicious activity.

* Securing examinee's personal items not related to the exam.

* Answering examinee's question or concerns relating to the exam process and instructions.

* Collecting and organizing completed exams; collecting scratch paper (if any), securing materials to upload the integrity of the exam.

* Passing annual proctor certification per examination type.

* Assist with administrative tasks such as recording and reporting attendance, organizing incident reports, and communicating with the respective department/school, data entry, and any other task relating to the exam.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

* Must be enrolled as a degree seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits in the current or upcoming semester at Nevada State.

* Experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Words, Excel, and PowerPoint.

* Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:

* Earned a High School diploma.

* Excellent communication skills both verbally and written to effectively communicate instructions, rules and procedures as well as addressing questions/concerns from examinees.

* Attention to detail, candidates must be able to accurately administer exams, monitor examinees and ensuring the integrity of the testing process.

* Ability to be flexible & adaptable and staying calm under pressure.

* Ability to work alone and independently, self-directed, and able to multitask.

* Dependable and recognize the importance of being on-time for scheduled events.

Work Hours:

This position may work a minimum of 4 hours per week based on the allotted time per exam. Student employees may not exceed 19.5 hours per week.

Hourly Rate:

$13.25 per hour.
