Job Description
Nevada State University (NSU) invites applications for the position of Coordinator of Sankofa. The Coordinator of Sankofa is responsible for the successful transition of new African American students to campus and will serve as a success coach for students participating in transition programs such as Sankofa and Facilitating African American Excellence (F.A.M.E). The coordinator will conduct the planning and implementation of all Sankofa social events, summer bridge programming, and community outreach events. Our number one goal is to help new African American students experience a stress-free transition to college while introducing them to our great institution.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Oversee all Sankofa recruitment activities.
• Facilitate the development and execution of the Sankofa Summer Bridge Program.
• Work in partnership with campus resources to provide wraparound services for Black students.
• Conduct weekly one-on-one and group meetings with Sankofa Summer Bridge students for academic and co-curricular coaching.
• Develop academic success plans and remediation action plans for struggling students each semester for Sankofa Summer Bridge Students and FAME students to outline a path for success and increase retention.
• Collect and maintain retention data and assessment for Sankofa programming.
• Plan and execute regular events for broader Sankofa community related to Black culture and success each semester.
• Create Black student professional development and organize mentorship for Black students with NSU faculty and staff.
Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree.
• 3 Years of related professional experience.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (NSU does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Salary & Benefits
Budgeted salary for this position is $55,000. Nevada State University offers excellent benefits, including 17.50% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
