Respite Direct Support Job Summary:
As a respite provider, you will be visiting the home of the client to provide the services. Respite is to be considered a time of relief for the caregiver from the demands of caring for their child. Respite Direct Support Staff or Respite providers will be at the home to assist the client with daily living activities as well as participate in age-appropriate activities whether in the home or out in the community. Providers should be engaging and energetic as 100% of their time when with the client would be interactions.
Respite services are provided 7 days a week and would be anytime between the hours of 8:30 am to 8:30 pm. During the school year, the expected start time for services is after 3 pm and during the summer season the expected start time for services will be 8:30 am. This position starts as a part-time position.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The most important responsibility of a Respite Provider is to allow the caregiver to be able to step away for a few hours if you will be in the home or out in the community with the child. Being respite is considered a time of break or relief to the caregiver it will be expected that at some point in your day, you will be left alone with the child. Other responsibilities & expectations are listed below.
Provides one-on-one care to youth and young adults when the primary caregiver is not available.
