Purpose of the Role/Role Overview:

Review, stamp and approve plan sets utilizing your Professional Engineer License and design detailed fiber design and route plans as required.

General Duties / Key Responsibilities:

Review, stamp and approve detailed engineering plan sets
Detailed understanding of easements and right-of-ways.
Ability to read and understand maps, plats, as-buillts, construction drawings and utility records.
Utilize QGIS or other design/GIS systems to create fiber designs including feeder and distribution.
Analyze network demand point data to create the most effective design.
Provide CAD support for fiber systems through creation of permit plan and profile drawings, construction drawings and conduit designs.
Provide exemplary project communication and adhere to project/jurisdictional requirements.
Maintain a robust quality control/assurance process to include but not limited to: Completing validation checks and QA/QC of fiber designs.
Design Fiber to the home, backhaul/transport fiber routes, MDU, distribution/feeder design using provided design software.
Perform fiber splicing of the fiber optic network via design software to ensure connectivity across fibers for the fiber splicing teams in the field.
Any/all duties related to fiber-optic (or copper/coax) network designs that may be required for project(s).

Required Job Qualifications:

A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Professional Civil Engineer
A minimum of 2 years designing fiber networks, with an emphasis on FTTX networks

Required Training/Licenses/Certifications:

Professional Civil Engineer licensed in the state of California.
Desired – other state PE Licenses in addition to the state of California.
Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.

High School diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree or greater preferred.

Required Technical Experience:

1 or more years of experience with Fiber Design Software:
- QGIS, ArcMap, ArcPro, ARCGIS, AGOL, OSPInsight, 3GIS or other GIS based systems (preference will be placed on direct QGIS experience).
- Or any relevant fiber optic design-based software
1 or more years AutoCAD experience with a preference to Telecom or Utilities is desired, but not required.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Products and routine office equipment

Required Soft Skills

Self-Starter
Advanced Written and Verbal Communication Skills.
Ability to work independently and with moderate supervision or as a part of a team.
Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
