Water Resource Project Engineer

As a Water Resources Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to apply and enhance your expertise in Green Infrastructure, Stormwater Management, Erosion and Sediment Control, Hydrology & Hydraulics Design, Watershed Studies, and Environmental Restoration and Stabilization. This role presents an excellent chance for someone eager to lead, manage, and successfully execute complex projects, and potentially advance into a Discipline Team leadership position.

Essential Functions:

• Act as a subject matter expert in water resources design and analysis.
• Develop, evaluate, and design stormwater management facilities supporting public works infrastructure projects.
• Conduct stormwater and drainage system analysis and modeling.
• Perform floodplain analysis, bridge hydraulics, and scour countermeasure design.
• Proactively manage a range of water resource projects, including stormwater systems, drainage design, flood studies, watershed plans, and erosion/sediment control, in line with project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Provide outstanding client services, prioritizing quality and timeliness.
• Collaborate directly with clients and other design team members, including project managers, project engineers, design technicians, drafters, surveyors, contractors, inspectors, public agency officials, and clients.
• Offer office and on-site support for projects during construction.
• Prepare permit applications for oversight agencies, addressing environmental issues and conditions associated with water resources projects.
• Lead tasks, plan budgets, and manage subcontractors.
• Develop construction plans, specifications, design reports, technical memoranda, and miscellaneous contract documents.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to find creative solutions to design challenges.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Eight (8) to Twelve (12) years of experience in Civil Water Resources or Transportation Engineering.
• Experience with relevant local projects (e.g., CDOT, MHFD, and/or local county/municipality projects).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in [Location].
• Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, and GIS.
• Familiarity with software such as SWMM, HEC-RAS, HY-8, TR-55, TR-20, or equivalent.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• Experience with Open Roads Designer.
• Additional experience in other regions, such as Texas (TxDOT and/or other county/municipality projects).
