NESC Staffing is Hiring a Production Engineer Near Houston, TX

Overview

The Production Engineer must have proven experience leading Kaizen's and project management to drive change and project management to drive change and is responsible for the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, fabrication and assembly, cost reduction initiatives, processing of engineering changes, and introduction of new products.

Typical process engineering tasks such as BOM and routing maintenance.

Also provides guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, technicians, and operation support staff.

Capable of development of project plans, execution of capital projects, and significant activities requiring a multi-functional team.

The Production Engineer is a team player, results-oriented, dedicated to excellence and strong work ethics.

Responsibilities

  • With minimal guidance, design and develop complex manufacturing processes, equipment, associated tools and production floor layouts.
  • Oversees project capital budget, ensuring spending is within approved limits.
  • Establish continuous improvement goals and execute action plans.
  • Utilize proven lean manufacturing abilities to identify opportunities for cost reduction, increased quality, workflow improvements, estimating, project analysis, technology development and core manufacturing skill set.
  • May provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, technicians and support staff.
  • Support and may lead implementation of Kaizen and Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) activities.
  • Develop and manage project schedules related to assigned projects.
  • Document product and process designs by preparing bills of materials, cost analyses, drawings, and engineering change requests.
  • Develop engineering solutions to product related issues through problem solving and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Participate in cross functional teams to launch new products, resolve issues, and support product and process improvements.
  • Coordinate project work internally with the department and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget.
  • Develop suppliers for manufacturing equipment, develop key suppliers, create an environment of continuous improvement in equipment UPTIME, EFFICIENCY & QUALITY
  • Create preventive maintenance that effectively maintains the equipment in optimal form without the need for short cutting the quality or machine capability.
  • Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.
  • Applies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.
  • Encouraged to seek continuous improvements.
  • Manages projects and processes while working independently with general supervision.
  • Coaches and reviews the work of lower-level professionals.
  • Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex; takes a new perspective on existing solutions.

Knowledge and Skills

· Advanced understanding and knowledge of manufacturing engineering theory, processes, and practice.

· Skilled in at least one of the following areas - tooling, fabrication, assembly processes, controls, or product development support in a manufacturing environment.

· Knowledge of specifications and standards used in the HVAC industry.

· Proficient with lean manufacturing concepts - Kaizan, value stream mapping, Kanban, line balancing & time studies.

· Proficient with core manufacturing documentation and all aspects of manufacturing in a high-volume environment.

· Software skills including MS Office Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Mapics

· Proficiency with AutoCAD or SolidWorks.

· Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Effective project management skills.

· Effective verbal and written communication skills to deliver the message to any level of the organization.

· Effective interpersonal & collaboration skills.

  • Ability to apply good judgment, strong work ethic and integrity on the job.

Experience

  • 3 years in production and/or manufacturing engineering experience required
  • 4 years

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Some lifting (up to 20 lbs.).
  • Long hours using a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and/or walking.
  • Work environment occasionally contains forklift traffic, various PPE may be required.
