This is a hands-on, full-time position with day-to-day duties that include providing consulting performing environmental audits and inspections at client work sites, by performing health and safety audits and ensuring client compliance. Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities

  • Develop a compliance assessment plan and conduct facility site assessments at various client locations for environmental, health, and safety compliance requirements.
  • Develop assessment findings report with recommended corrective actions.
  • Assist client to meet and exceed environmental and safety compliance objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and related regulatory agencies.
  • Document findings and observations in forms, field notes, chain of custody documents, etc. as needed.
  • Responsible for Client EH&S program and plan development.
  • Customize and deliver regulatory required environmental and safety related training to clients and their respective teams.
  • Use data systems to track client compliance deadlines, key events, and client specific requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of changing environmental and safety laws, regulations, local ordinances and how they may impact clients.
  • Assist with other departments as assigned.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Public speaking skills, able to function in diverse work environments and relate to diverse class groups.
  • Proficient understanding of applicable environmental & safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Ability to analyze, document, collect data, audit, and report results.
  • Proficient on a computer using programs such as Acrobat and Microsoft Office including Excel.
  • Must be knowledgeable or willing to learn various environmental and safety programs including but not limited to: HMBP, Hazardous Waste Management, Hazmat/Haz Waste Transportation) and site audits for clients to comply with environmental & safety regulations. Provide OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act), Environmental (Title 22/RCRA, HMBP, SPCC) & Transportation (DOT, IATA, IMDG) training programs.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in core science or closely related field (e.g., chemistry, biology, etc.).

Experience

  • Must demonstrate a general experience and knowledge of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act), Environmental & compliance regulations.
  • Ability to build trust and client relationships.
  • Dedicated to compliance regulations.
  • Exhibit ability to work independently with basic oversight.
  • EH&S Specialist II additional requirements include but are not limited to:
    • Ability to anticipate client needs.
    • Accurately interpret law and regulations.
    • Mentor, train and advise EH&S Specialist I
    • Diligent in growing professional development certifications.

Preferred Career Certifications

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is preferred (with 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher certificates).
  • REHS – Registered Environmental Health Specialist, preferred.
  • CHMM – Certified Hazardous Material Manager, preferred.
  • ICC California UST System Operator preferred or must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
  • Qualified Industrial Storm Water Practitioner preferred or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Wage: $66,560 to $67,500 annually. Travel is required 50% of the time (mostly day trips) and expenses are company-paid. This position will cover a variety of clients in the central California area including the Bay Area and Gilroy.
