The facility utilizes completely automated manufacturing, packaging, and distribution systems, in addition to high volume and redundant utility systems, to ensure production system availability. Nephron specializes in Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) manufacturing, a niche technology that allows a vial of medication to be formed, filled and sealed in a continuous process, in a sterile, enclosed environment and without human intervention.

As an industry leader in product safety and quality, Nephron produces a variety of inhalation solutions, and has distributed over 1 billion doses of respiratory medication per year since 2009. Nephron is currently working on research and development projects that include over 50 new products. The company’s longstanding relationships with major drug wholesalers allow us to distribute our products to retail pharmacies, mail order pharmacies, hospitals, home care companies, and long-term care facilities. Primary Accountabilities: 

Assistant Manager, Operational Excellence, reporting to the Manufacturing Vice President, the Manager, Operational Excellence will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the operations of BFS and other assigned roles at Nephron Pharmaceutical Corporation. The Assistant Manager, Operational Excellence has leadership responsibility to assure compliance with all government and company policies and procedures. The Assistant Manager, Operational Excellence will also be responsible for facility production goals and objectives. Following Nephron Pharmaceutical’s Vision, Mission and Values, the Assistant Manager, Operational Excellence is to develop a well-trained, motivated staff that complies with cGMP and cGDP with emphasis on plant safety and employee engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with strategic supply chain, engineering, financial, research and developmental partners to lead the developmental, design, operation, and improvement of the manufacturing systems. Ensured that skilled employees safely produce an efficient, profitable, and effective product that meets customers’ expectations.
  • Communicating the organization's strategy and beliefs to all plant operations staff, and implementing appropriate incentives, metrics, and coaching practices to align personnel with company goals. 
  • Planning and implementing strategic objectives for the company within the operations areas by prioritizing customer, employee, and organizational goals and requirements.
  • Designing and utilizing best practices and related KPIs as performance measures for the efficient management of the company’s operations including relevant systems, reporting dashboards and team management and associate motivation forums. 
  • Managing the company’s Manufacturing and Logistics operations to maximize capacity utilization, implementation and management of formal safety and quality control systems, and continuous process improvement.
  • Ensuring compliance with current federal, state, local and OSHA regulations.
  • Mastering and optimizing practical use of the company’s plant IT system.
  • Manages Plant Operation Variant and Actual/ Standard Ratio. 
  • Managing the effective management and ongoing development of the company’s supply chain processes, organization,and management teams.
  • Managing efforts in sustainable manufacturing practices and energy efficiencies.
  • Managing the company’s inventory planning, forecasting, and purchasing functions by optimizing the utilization of ERP Systems.
  • Promote core values and high-performance team behaviors in personal work behaviors, decision making, and interpersonal interactions by soliciting feedback and valuing others perspectives.
  • Direct and coordinate plant operations in strict compliance with all state and federal laws, regulations, corporate policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for plant Profit & Loss, manage facility to financial budget and corporate guidelines.
  • Responsible for achieving all facility business goals including, but not limited to, the areas of safety, quality, production, reliability and financial budget compliance.
  • Establish and maintain a positive community relationship, including partnership with local officials as appropriate, and philanthropic efforts coordinated at the plant and corporate levels.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, cooperative working relationship with all levels of employees.
  • Develop and foster a well-trained and motivated staff. Assess current skill sets and align with plant future growth and vision. As Plant Leader, provide effective and timely feedback, development planning, setting clear objectives, and coaching employees to perform at their highest levels.
  • Develop and foster high performance team environment, assuring manufacturing excellence across all the functions.
  • Responsible for strict adherence to the quality and product control systems for the plant.
  • Ensures that all plant assets are properly managed, safeguarded, and secure.
  • Develop and ensure management systems are in place to monitor plant output to ensure efficient resource utilization and initiates corrective action as required.
  • Lead organization to develop, follow and report plant metrics timely and accurately enabling the organization to efficiently monitor progress towards attaining site objectives and continuous improvement.
  • Foster positive customer interactions and relationships through high service levels and on time delivery.

Qualifications:

  • BS or BA Degree required; Engineering or Business Management degree preferred or equivalent years of experience.
  • Minimum of ten years of manufacturing experience including a minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience
  • Demonstrated Leadership Skills and track record of continuous improvement in all manufacturing core competencies including safety, quality, productivity, reliability and facility planning.
  • Experience in business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of progressive management and manufacturing tools (LEAN, Formal Problem-Solving Techniques, High Performance Teamwork, and Quality Systems)
  • Knowledge of raw material handling, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products and services
  • Minimum 2 years Material/Maintenance requirement planning experience.

· Generate and distribute an accurate project pass down daily.

  • Ensure product lines are running within time guidelines for changeovers, with correct lot# and expiration date, formulations, clean in place and product transfer.

· Verify all Batch Records are complete to meet GMP requirements to include all required signatures and or initials.

· Performs all other duties as assigned or apparent.

· Incumbents are required to comply with proper gowning requirements and other non-specified protective equipment as necessary.

· Incumbents may be required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, bouffant, and laboratory coats and other non-specified protective equipment as necessary.

· Rotating or Flexible shift work schedules will be required. Shift assignment may be adjusted as needed.
