NEP GROUP is Hiring a Fiber Optic Technician Near Dallas, TX
We are seeking a Fiber Optic Technician for a full-time position on-site at our Grapevine, TX facility. The Fiber Optic Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic cables and telecommunications equipment. This candidate will have experience working with fiber optic cables, splicing fibers, and testing network systems. The Fiber technician will assemble, maintain, test, and repair fiber optic cables. They will assist with all aspects of fiber optic cables and related equipment within the Fiber Department. The ideal candidate could be a person that has worked with Fiber in Broadcast or worked in the telecommunications industry for a minimum 5 years.
This is an hourly position onsite Monday - Friday at our Grapevine, TX facility. There may be overtime as needed.
Key duties include:
- Assemble, maintain, and repair fiber optic cables and connectors
- Perform testing of cable and equipment
- Test functionality of “house” fiber systems used with our equipment
- Skillset should include: Single-mode / Multi-mode / LC/SC connectors / Splicing / cleaning
Requirements:
- Experience with an OTDR reader
- Prefer SMPTE experience
- Associates or Technical Degree preferred
- Prior experience working with broadcast equipment and technology desired
- Strong trouble shooting skills
- Proven experience working with Fiber Optic Cables
- Some travel may be required to show sites
