Position Summary

The External Supply Senior Director will be responsible for managing critical custom raw materials and drug product supply, analytical testing, and other CMC projects from CDMOs. This position is based in Santa Monica, CA and reports to the VP of Supply Chain.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

External Supply Chain

  • Develops short, mid, and longterm supply strategy and plans for non-viral and viral gene editing materials produced at CDMOs in alignment with product CMC and clinical trial roadmaps.
  • Influences CMC product and operations strategy based on CDMO supply.
  • Drives CDMO execution and innovation to support Neogene's CMC and clinical roadmap and timelines.
  • Partners with R&D, Process Development, Analytical Development, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to develop and execute plans and strategies.
  • Leads cross functional teams for management of ongoing operations and performance at CDMOs.
  • Owns both the operational and strategic relationship with CDMOs. Cultivates relationships and operating model with both CDMO operational teams as well as CDMO executive leadership to drive Neogene's programs forward.
  • Drives make vs buy decisions for critical raw materials and drug product.
  • Continuously monitors operations risk and CDMO landscape to determine strategies and plans.
  • Develops negotiation and contract strategy, owns negotiations and contracting with CDMOs, and partners with Legal.
  • Drives cost management supports budget planning for clinical programs, and partners with Finance.

General

  • Support overall leadership of end-to-end supply chain activities, including operations planning, supply planning, sourcing & procurement, logistics, and site supply chain activities.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Serves as prime consultant and external spokesperson for the organization on highly significant matters relating to policies, programs, capabilities, and long- range goals and objectives.
  • Determines organizational objectives and interprets company policies. Completed work is reviewed, from a relatively long-term perspective, for desired results.
  • Establishes organizational policies in a major segment of the company. Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to company-wide policies.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of fourteen (14) years with BS/BA, or minimum of twelve (12) years with MS/MA or MBA, or a minimum of ten (10) years with PhD.
  • 10 plus years in supply chain management within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Experience in CMC, process development, and/or manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience in Cell and Gene therapy and CDMO management preferred.

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Santa Monica, CA is $205,000 to $241,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.
