Position Summary

Neogene is seeking a highly motivated associate scientist with expertise in NGS, molecular biology, and assay development. The position of Associate Scientist, Translational Sciences is responsible for performing NGS-based assays, sequencing libraries, organizing and analyzing results, and communicating and presenting findings in team meetings. This position is based in Santa Monica, CA and reports to Senior Scientist.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Tissue and primary cell preparation into single cell suspension.
  • Performs bulk and single cell NGS workflows such as 10X immunoprofiling.
  • Conducts Illumina library sequencing.
  • Troubleshoots to optimize assay performance and improve robustness.
  • Works independently and as part of a collaborative team to design, plan, and execute assays to support NGS-based projects.
  • Contributes to data tracking and management using ELN.
  • Meets established timeliness, maintains accurate records of work, and clearly communicates results.
  • Presents data within the group and at cross-functional meetings.
  • Assists in other duties as required to meet corporate goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Not at this time.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • A strong background in genomics and molecular biology.
  • Hand-on expertise in NGS library preparation.
  • Proficiency in single cell NGS platforms.
  • Experience handling Illumina sequencers.
  • Experience with tissue dissociation and primary cell preparation into single cell suspension.
  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced company environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description.
  • Experience in cell culture aseptic techniques is a plus.
  • Familiarity with bioinformatic pipelines for the analysis of NGS data is a plus.
  • Background in human immunology and cancer immunotherapy is a plus.

Education and Experience

  • BS with a minimum of 7-10 years of lab experience, or MS with and minimum of 5-7 lab experience, or PhD with a minimum of 2 industry experience.

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Santa Monica, CA is $105,000 to $124,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.
