Nelson Laboratories is Hiring a Facility maintenance Near Bozeman, MT

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is to provide technical expertise in all aspects of laboratory equipment and facilities, building, and supporting systems.

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for following all regulatory requirements, maintenance and calibration procedures, common safe mechanical guidelines, and coordinating maintenance activities for equipment and facility systems.

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will give technical advice, recommendations, and support to other departments / sections as support for projects, issues, and / or questions.

Education and experience

  • 5 years applicable maintenance experience / training preferred

Essential job functions :

Equipment & Calibration

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all laboratory equipment.
  • Perform equipment validations.
  • Perform equipment and procedure validations.
  • Recommend new equipment to meet laboratory needs.
  • Determine maintenance and calibration requirements and write necessary procedures.
  • Maintain maintenance and calibration procedure files.
  • Maintain and operate calibration and maintenance recall system.
  • Perform scheduled calibrations as needed.
  • Interface with SLC to harmonize best practices and procedures related to the maintenance and calibration of processes and equipment.
  • Manage the procedures and schedules related to calibration and maintenance of equipment.
  • Partner with other staff members to accomplish necessary equipment installation, validation, calibration, and maintenance activities.
  • Write SOPs and WI for equipment and facilities.

Facility

  • Maintain in-house vacuum, air supply, and emergency power systems.
  • Monitor in-house (RO / DI) water systems including standalone units.
  • Monitor and record temperature / relative humidity systems, including standalone units.
  • Perform facility maintenance functions.
  • Manages the operation, maintenance, and repair of plant utility systems, including boilers, compressed air pumping systems, HVAC units, hot water systems, clean steam generators, autoclave sterilizers, vacuum systems, emergency power systems, incubators, freezers, components parts waters, etc.
  • Supervises general facility repairs (lighting, doors, card readers, security systems, fire systems,
  • Maintain and repair the facility walls, ceilings, floors, and other architectural features.
  • Assist in HVAC equipment maintenance and contractor management.
  • Manage outside facilities contractors working anywhere on the company’s property.
  • Maintain BSL-3 Laboratory and equipment.
  • Manage Pest Control policy / procedures.
  • Keep sidewalks free from snow and ice.
  • Monitor and coordinate parking lot snow removal for the facility.

General

  • Provides technical support, advice, and recommendations for laboratory equipment, laboratory purchases, uses, and care of equipment and support systems for equipment and buildings.
  • Manages contractors, vendors, and OEM techs as needed to ensure work performed complies with Nelson Labs guidelines and quotes and invoices match based on work performed and cost.
  • Understands and executes demonstrated aseptic behaviors and techniques.
  • Is available for 24-hour on-call when needed.
  • Participate in CAPAs and audit findings, as it applies to equipment and facilities.

Physical requirements :

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis and assist in moving heavy equipment, etc.
  • More than 75% of time spent walking, lifting, or working on equipment.
  • Wear personal protective equipment such as hoods, lab coats, safety glasses, goggles, gloves, facemasks, shoe coverings, and respiratory equipment as applicable.

  • Able to manipulate small hand tools.
