Nelson Design Group is a growing residential house plan design firm. This is a paid, full-time position. Must be able to work M-F 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in Jonesboro Arkansas.

Our CAD technician, also known as a draftsperson, uses CAD software to create technical drawings and house plans - also known as drafting - used in the construction of each home.

You'll work with lead home designers to understand the requirements of their initial designs and turn them into accurate and detailed technical drawings in 2D and 3D models.

Job Responsibilities:

• Create high-quality detailed technical drawings and plans based on designs supplied by designers and make modifications to existing drawings
• Use a variety of CAD software programs to produce 2D/3D models designs, working drawings, charts, forms, and records
• Draw rough and detailed scale plans for residential homes, based on preliminary concepts, sketches, specification sheets, and other data
• Liaise with designers to understand their design requirements and provide technical advice
• Provide accurate, detailed, and to scale drawings
• Ensure drawings are compliant with industry standards and protocols

Requirements:

-Previous experience in computer-aided design CAD software (Autodesk Inventor, Autocad, Solid Works, etc.)

-Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models

-Basic software skills — Excel, Word, Outlook, telework capability, video conferencing

-Must be comfortable with computers and willing to learn new tools

-Mathematical skills to complete calculations and estimates

-Must be able to report daily to Jonesboro, AR office

Desired Skills & Abilities:

Architectural Knowledge — Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the design

Previous work experience within Manufacturing, Engineering, Agriculture, or Graphic Design is a bonus!
