NEI Electric Power Engineering is Hiring a Manager - Substation Development Engineering Near Lakewood, CO

About the Position

The Manager Solar Development will manage a team of Solar Development Engineers, directly coordinate with discipline-specific design teams, and ensure projects are staffed with the appropriate personnel. This team will be the primary liaison for development, bid support, and/or preliminary (0 30%) solar design work between internal operations, sales stakeholders, and external stakeholders.

The primary responsibility will be ensuring the accurate, timely, and quality completion of scopes as assigned to the PV solar team(s) while assisting in the development of the departments Standard Best Practices (SBP’s) and enforcing/implementing them when pertinent.

This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, Colorado) and full-time remote candidates.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manages solar development engineering design activities, system performance modeling and related CAD design activities by coordinating with discipline-specific (electrical, civil, structural) design teams
  • Acts as a liaison between the solar design team(s) and relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Assigns work to and coordinates work with engineers, technicians, or administrative staff and ensures projects are appropriately staffed to meet milestones and deadlines
  • Reviews & oversees the delivery of preliminary solar design(s) (0-30%) and solar feasibility studies
  • Works cross-functionally across departments to identify and assign team members across disciplines to ensure project work can be completed and submitted in a timely manner
  • Works with Proposal team and Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) to establish proposal pricing
  • Ensures adherence to company/clients QA/QC standards
  • Supports development and maintenance of solar performance analysis tool
  • Provides engineering & technical support to the other members of the Business Development & Project Services Team
  • Provides pre-sales technical support to customers and the NEI outside sales team
  • Supports business development via Seller-Doer, assists with marketing tasks, and prepares proposals as needed
  • Maintains strong and responsive Company-Client relationships, particularly for communication pertaining to specific assignments and meeting topics
  • Maintains professional understanding of all applicable Codes and Standards, and construction practices
  • Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work
  • Maintains high ethical and professional standards
  • Attends safety training and adhere to all safety rules and guidelines
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Must Have

  • Experience: 5 years of engineering or relevant field experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineer, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Licensure: PE preferred
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and PVcase
  • Proficiency with energy modeling using PVsyst
  • Strong understanding of electrical and civil engineering with specific emphasis on development phase engineering and applications for PV solar
  • Commercial understanding of the engineering or construction industries
  • Must be self-motivated, well-organized, and a skilled decision maker that is comfortable in a fast-paced design environment
  • Possesses excellent problem-solving skills
  • A strong written and verbal command of the English language
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office setting and some field work is also required


Travel:

Minimal: 0 10%


Physical Activities:

Must be able to lift 25lbs.

Managerial Responsibility:

The Manager is responsible for managing their own work and schedule and the work and schedule of their team, with input from supervisor, and completing assigned tasks. The Manager will mentor, coach, and develop the employees on their team toward fulfilling their individual career aspirations
The Team Member should identify discrepancies in assigned work and bring to attention of supervisor or engineer responsible for the project in a timely manner. Team Member’s teams work product should be self-checked in a manner that is suitable for review by the supervisor or engineer responsible for the project
