JOB SUMMARY:

Performs selected nursing and/or clerical duties as directed by physicians, professional nursing staff and/or administration. Performs selected nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

• May perform phlebotomy procedures
• Perform EKG
• Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
• Observes records, and reports patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians
• Arranges for patient testing and admissions
• Provides instruction to patients as directed
• Maintains patient confidentiality
• Ensure that equipment and facilities are in proper condition for use in delivering health care.
• Cleans and sterilizes necessary equipment, instruments, and patient areas.
• Maintains organized work area
• Maintains inventory of supplies
• Enter written orders into the EMR
• Enter written orders from ROS
• Transcribe written prescription orders and medication refills by phone or electronic means
• Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls. Instructs patient and family as directed by physician staff and written material
• Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested
• Performs other duties as required

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Medication Aide
• One year of experience, preferably in a clinic setting preferred.
• Alternative to Minimum Qualification: None

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

• Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
• Ability to communicate clearly.
• Knowledge of safety requirements and ability to recognize and correct hazardous conditions.
