Job Description Job DescriptionThe Manufacturing Engineering Manager oversees the development and implementation of manufacturing processes which maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintain a high level of core technological competence within the engineering staff.Direct and coordinate product and process launches using APQP procedures and principles.Ensure that the manufacturing process is established with equipment, tooling, and process controls that can meet customer, risk, and operation targets.Ensure that the engineering staff is trained and competent to apply effective project management skills.Manage through direct reports, the implementation of the PM system and the maintenance and repair of equipment, tooling, and physical plant.Monitor and plan equipment and tooling capacity.Maintain environmental regulatory compliance.Establish a capital budget and expense budget for management approval.Ensure that the applicable standard practices are understood and applied.Maintain metrics on equipment and tooling capacity utilization, regulatory conformance, launch conformance, process performance, process control, PM performance, and labor standards conformance.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Experience with Friction, GMAW, and MIAB welding processes preferred.Experience with Propshafts and High Speed balancing operations a plus.Experience with AutoCAD and Minitab (or other statistical package).Leadership role in the use of the APQP process to drive for successful launches with no customer concerns, on-time delivery, and no customer disruptions.Use of the Plan, Do, Check, Act disciplines for continuous improvement and meeting commitments.Must be able to take a team-oriented leadership role working with Hourly Operators, Product Development, Maintenance, Quality and Material Planning and Logistics when developing processes, using their ideas to help implement optimal and efficient process designs.Respond to customer concerns by analyzing failures and recommending, driving, and/or monitoring corrective and preventive actions.Must be able to use the 8D problem solving approach to understand root cause and implement corrective actions.Good technical and interpersonal skills for interfacing with customers. Minimum of five (5) years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in an automotive parts manufacturing environment.Minimum of three (3) years of direct Management experience required; technical staff preferred.Knowledge and understanding of CI tools and approaches (lean manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, problem solving, Kanban, process mapping, etc.).Experience with TS16949.Demonstrated experience with structured APQP process.Capital Project Management experience.Understanding and application of SPC/process control.Working knowledge of labor standards.Minimal travel may be required.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Bachelor of Science in Engineering; Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical PreferredMinimum of five (5) years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in an automotive parts manufacturing environment.Minimum of three (3) years of direct Management experience required; technical staff preferred.Neapco recognizes that our team members are our most valuable asset, and we are committed to providing them with a safe, drug-free workplace fostering respect and ethical treatment.
