The Day Support Specialist provides direct care and skill training for all assigned individuals in a day habilitation setting, to promote the highest level of independence and satisfaction in their daily activities.

**Schedule:** Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm

*******OFFERING $300 SIGN-ON BONUS FOR FULL-TIME DAY SUPPORT SPECIALIST UNTIL 8/31/2021!!!*******

**Pay rate:** $15.00/hr

**Primary Responsibilities:**

* Provides skills instruction and develops adaptive strategies as needed to ensure optimal independence and success in goals outlined in the day hab service plan.

* Provides assistance to individuals with all aspects of personal care including: toileting, mealtime prep and support, assisting with hoyers, showering and dressing.

* Understands the clinical and social needs of individuals receiving services.

* Serves as a role model for individuals in developing expected behaviors and assist in developing interactive skills. Provide crisis intervention as needed.

* Relates to individuals in a manner which maximizes human dignity, community integration and opportunities for self-direction.

* Promotes and maintain a safe environment, both environmentally and emotionally.

* Communicates program and medical/health needs of all individuals, consistently, to the Program Director, Health Care Supervisor and members of an individuals team.

* Transports individuals in personal vehicle when an agency vehicle is not available as needed for day programming/weather/ building emergencies.

* Follows HIPPA guidelines and maintain confidentiality at all times.

* Assesses/assists in the evaluation of individuals in identifying their interests, abilities and needs.

* Presents information regarding any individual in a professional manner in all settings including; meetings, phone contact, daily written documentation and emails.

* Maintains documentation and trainings per all legal, Medicaid and regulatory requirements.

* Maintains confidential records as assigned.

* Completes incident, accident and other reports in a timely manner.

* Follows and implements Northeast Arc Policies, including Code of Conduct and Day Service Division standards as well as funding source regulations.

* Offers flexibility in job assignments/duties to ensure the safe delivery of services is available to people supported in any program within the Day Service Division.

* Other duties and special projects as assigned.

**Education and Experience:**

High School Diploma or GED. Minumum of one year experience working with intellectually and/or developmentally disabled adults or health care setting.

**Skills, Knowledge and Abilities** :

Self-motivated team player with a positive, energetic and professional demeanor. Solid verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and write in English. Compassionate, creative and able to work well with individuals with diverse needs. Ability to maintain First Aid/CPR and other certifications as required. Must possess a valid drivers license.

**Requirements:**

* Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

* Must be able to stand for 1 hour uninterrupted

* Must be able to bend and push wheelchairs

**Work Environment:**

* Maintain a safe work environment as determined by Northeast Arc,

* Follow Universal Precautions at all times,

* Wear protective equipment (i.e. gloves, masks, back belts, eye wear, etc.) as necessary.
