ncsu-sb is Hiring an Assistant Power Systems Engineer Near Raleigh, NC

The Assistant Power Systems Engineer position will be responsible to assist the Power Systems Engineer in overall system planning, engineering and construction standards development, specifications development, system documentation and material inventory for the Power Systems group. This position will assist the HV Engineer to ensure the reliability and dependability of the campus power distribution systems, including emergency generators, through effective system planning, maintenance reviews and documentation. This position will also provide electrical engineering design review services in support of the Facilities Operations Project Office for minor renovations and new construction, focusing on high voltage (15 kV and 23KV) distribution issues and projects and distribution system integrity. This work will include the design of in-house electrical distribution system expansions and renovations through the preparation of design concepts, calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates. This position will provide recommendations to the High Voltage Engineer for improvements to the high voltage power distribution system and assist on projects and assigned. This position shall also be or become fluent (within six (6) months) in the programming of electrical relays, design and operation of the SCADA system and the maintenance of system mapping through the use of AutoCad. The successful candidate will be expected to possess the required management and decision making skills to operate as the Power System’s Engineer’s absence. This position will also be supervising three employees within the Metering and relay group.
