Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)
- Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Prior experience as a COTA preferred
- Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques, assessments, and interventions
- Ability to assist with evaluations and the development of treatment plans
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and empathetic towards patients
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems
- Current BLS certification (Basic Life Support)
- Assist Occupational Therapists in conducting evaluations and assessments of patients' abilities and needs
- Implement assigned components of treatment plans under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
- Administer therapeutic exercises and activities to improve patients' coordination, strength, and fine motor skills
- Assist patients in using adaptive equipment and assistive devices to enhance their daily functioning
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide integrated patient care
- Monitor and document patient progress, communicating any changes to the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Educate patients and their families on strategies to promote independence and improve quality of life
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean environment
