NCCF is Hiring a Building Systems Specialist Near Bethesda, MD

Position Purpose:This position performs a variety of tasks required in the construction, repair and maintenance, and day to day operation of The National Center for Children and Families, including oversight of fire suppression systems, boilers, plumbing and water supply, HVAC equipment, and various specialized equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains, revises, and updates logs, records, licenses, and forms that are necessary for the documentation and management of all facilities.

Ensure that the Agency is compliant with licensing and certification requirements. Serves as liaison with fire marshal, inspectors, contractors, and others relating to building operations, including problem identification and solution, decision making and touring of the facilities,

Plans and operates all facility equipment and systems, i.e., boilers, HVAC, fire alarm and security, plumbing, etc.

Facilitation and creation of routine meetings and addresses safety, sanitation, and maintenance with program staff.

Provides the Director of Administrative Services with information for decisions relating to vendors, capital improvements and other equipment repair and replacement.

Act as contact person for maintenance and repair issues for fire suppression systems, boilers, plumbing and water supply, HVAC equipment, and various specialized equipment.

Makes recommendations for best practices at all sites, provides evaluation reports, and makes recommendations as needed.

Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs, as necessary.

Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions.

Plan and lay-out repair work using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematic diagrams.

Records maintenance and repair work performed, and any change required.

Provides information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, email, or in person.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Participates in all required meetings.
Other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent trade certificate with minimum two years’ experience.

Two to give years’ experience in a building or plant engineering environment.

Excellent interpersonal, grammatical, and organizational skills.

Good oral and written communications skills and customer service approach.

Must possess an attitude compatible with the goals and purposes of NCCF.

Demonstration of cross-cultural competencies.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle and feel and lift up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Vision abilities include close vision with a computer monitor. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
