The Challenge
We are looking for a senior Environmental Engineer to manage and lead our Monitoring & Stewardship group in our Environmental Analysis unit that supports the development of sustainable transportation infrastructure minimizing our impact on the human and natural environment.
In this role, you will:
Supervise and manage our Monitoring and Stewardship group that plans, designs, constructs, monitors, and leads the stewardship of NCDOT on-site stream, wetland, and buffer mitigation sites statewide.
Manage and supervise a group of engineers responsible for delivery of on-site mitigation design plans.
Manage and supervise the NCDOT's On-site Mitigation Monitoring and Mitigation Stewardship programs.
Manage Private Engineering Firms contracts involving scope of work, estimates, project management tasks, scheduling, budgets, invoicing, and evaluations.
Coordinate and communicate with State and Federal Environmental Agencies regarding permit compliance related to our On-site Mitigation Program.
Assist Environmental Analysis staff with group budgets, special projects, and other assignments.
What You Bring
Experience with the principals and practices of environmental engineering relating to natural stream, wetland, and buffer design and monitoring.
Knowledge of Federal and State laws pertaining to environmental matters (specifically Compensatory Mitigation), as well as Federal Highway Administration regulations relating to other aspects of highway planning, design, and construction.
Experience managing performance monitoring of Compensatory Mitigation Sites to meet State and Federal Permitting Requirements.
Experience managing Stewardship of Compensatory Mitigation properties.
