The Challenge
We are hiring an Entry-Level Engineering Technician to join our Salisbury Construction team.
In this role, you will:
Perform technical duties supporting engineers and other professionals in construction inspection, surveying, materials testing, materials sampling, erosion control inspection, and construction traffic control audits.
Inspect for compliance/code.
Collect and analyze field data.
Perform materials testing.
Review and interpret design plans.
Analyze engineering-related/product data.
Perform construction layout, measuring, staking, marking, and clearing brush.
What You Bring
Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying.
Computer skills using laptops, iPads, and software.
Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.
Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
Knowledge of standards and specifications and plan reading experience.
Good eyesight (glasses are ok!) to use testing instruments, read plan details, make accurate field measurements and inspect roadway and structure components.
Ability to safely perform manual tasks involving the use of a bush axe and other tools on steep and rough terrain.
Agility to carry testing equipment over rough and steep terrain.
Strength to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
You can safely work high above ground and safely operate a motor vehicle.
You are proficient in record keeping, and can use engineering testing equipment.
Ability to safely drive a state vehicle.
Safety toe shoes.
Education & Experience
Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
An equivalent combination of training and experience.
Note
You may be exposed to high traffic volumes, work at heights over water or traffic, and may have to climb on bridge substructures and superstructures.
