The Challenge
We are hiring an Entry-Level Engineering Technician to join our Salisbury Construction team.
In this role, you will:
    • Perform technical duties supporting engineers and other professionals in construction inspection, surveying, materials testing, materials sampling, erosion control inspection, and construction traffic control audits.
    • Inspect for compliance/code.
    • Collect and analyze field data.
    • Perform materials testing.
    • Review and interpret design plans.
    • Analyze engineering-related/product data.
    • Perform construction layout, measuring, staking, marking, and clearing brush.
What You Bring
    • Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying.
    • Computer skills using laptops, iPads, and software.
    • Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.
    • Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
    • Knowledge of standards and specifications and plan reading experience.
    • Good eyesight (glasses are ok!) to use testing instruments, read plan details, make accurate field measurements and inspect roadway and structure components.
    • Ability to safely perform manual tasks involving the use of a bush axe and other tools on steep and rough terrain.
    • Agility to carry testing equipment over rough and steep terrain.
    • Strength to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
    • You can safely work high above ground and safely operate a motor vehicle.
    • You are proficient in record keeping, and can use engineering testing equipment.
    • Ability to safely drive a state vehicle.
    • Safety toe shoes.
Education & Experience
    • Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
Note
    • You may be exposed to high traffic volumes, work at heights over water or traffic, and may have to climb on bridge substructures and superstructures.
