POSITION OVERVIEW

NBME is seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Technical Strategy & Product to lead our organization's strategic vision and roadmap for technology-driven innovation. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in assessing, adopting, and integrating emerging technologies to drive NBME's Growth and Innovation (G&I) initiatives. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will make informed decisions on technology solutions, product strategies, and partnerships to keep NBME at the forefront of the industry.

This role has been designated as primarily remote, meaning it requires little to no onsite attendance. While this role can be designated as remote, you are offered the flexibility to select if you prefer to work primarily remotely, hybrid, or onsite. We're open to considering candidates who reside in either Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New Jersey.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive the vision and strategy for innovation-enabling technology and digital approaches.
  • Represent NBME in the external market, fostering relationships with vendors, users, and customers.
  • Build strong working relationships across leadership, innovation product management, sales, marketing, and other functional groups.
  • Engage with customers to refine portfolio strategy, influence industry direction, and execute product strategy.
  • Collaborate with Innovation Product Managers and Innovation Lab to set prioritization and be the point person for technology-related queries.
  • Assist in requirement documentation, provide expertise during proof-of-concept discussions, and contribute to prototype development.
  • Research industry and technological trends, partnering with business development to identify shifts in technology and innovation opportunities.
  • Propose and plan projects exploring new business models and technical competencies.
  • Assess feasibility, plan technology assessments, and proof-of-concept projects with vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of assessment products, industry, and competitors preferred.
  • Proficiency in at least one server-side technology (e.g., C#, Java, Python, Node.js, Go).
  • Experience in architecture, design patterns, API management, and cloud-native solutions.
  • Strong customer relationship skills and innovative mindset.
  • Ability to create a strategic vision and translate it into a roadmap and specific requirements.
  • Strong program or product management skills.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies like VR/AR, IoT devices, and trends in front-end and mobile development frameworks is highly desirable.

Experience

  • 7 years in a director, manager, or architect role.
  • Demonstrated track record in leading technology strategy and innovation.
  • Minimum of 2 years in leadership roles with a focus on strategic decision-making and innovation management.
  • At least 5 years dedicated to technology strategy, innovation, and product development.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, technology, or related field or 10 or more years of experience
