Job Description


Team Overview

Help lead a highly motivated team of individuals who are responsible for the fulfillment of media content to NBCUniversal’s distribution outlets, including its cable networks, owned television stations and online destinations. A Media Operations Specialist must be an expert of quality control of content for Studio Fulfillment distribution using several technical processes & technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control of all digital media for DC Studio Fulfillment.
  • QC all content for distribution - Ensure technical specifications for all encoded and transcoded files including foreign languages with the expectation of making zero errors or defects.
  • Assist Supervisor with the creation and publication of standard operating procedures to ensure the operation achieves and exceeds its reliability goals and service level agreements.
  • Assist Supervisor with the team training and maintaining training matrix.
  • Expert in all media prep processes in the Media Operations Center & any additional processes that are created in the future.
  • Assist Supervisor with any project management related to testing, roll-out, and implementation of new systems or procedures.
  • Assist Supervisor with managing team daily workflow priorities to ensure the operation service level agreements while maintain reliability goals.
  • Troubleshoot, Track, and escalate OM and component referral workflows
  • Collaborate with program operations
  • Troubleshoot problems and issues in the media prep workflow following escalation procedure and maintaining client communication. Document problems and issues and work with Supervisor/Product/Support to solve issues
  • Additional duties as needed and assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications


Basic Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in a production, post production, broadcast, or communications environment
  • Proven track record of impeccable communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and process mapping tools (e.g. Visio)
  • A respectful team player, who follows rules and policy, has good communication skills while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Ability to multi-task and balance numerous priorities in a deadline-oriented environment effectively flexible in approach, and responds well to pressure
  • Knowledge of various media formats, file types, and video standards
  • Proficient knowledge operating Evertz Mediator media asset management & playout automation system
  • Proficient operating Grey Meta Iris QC player
  • Proficient operating Telestream Venice QC player
  • Expert knowledge using NBCU’s Translator application

Desired Characteristics

  • 1 yrs experience in a leadership role in the broadcast/media industry with a track record of proven leadership
  • High energy level and strong team skills
  • Experienced in broadcast operations or media especially in a quality control capacity.
  • Extensive and significant experience, understanding and knowledge of media prep technical systems, standards and processes
  • Prior experience with Mediator and Translator in a media prep environment
  • A punctual, hardworking, disciplined, and dependable individual
  • Strong attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills
  • A track record of meeting or exceeding performance expectations

Additional Requirements

This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Job Description

A QC Technician must perform quality control of content for NBCU Studio distribution using several technical processes & technologies including, but not limited to, Audio/Video QC, subtitle QC, audio language recognition, order prioritization, cross team communication and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control of all digital media for Studio Fulfillment distribution.
  • QC all content for distribution - Ensure technical specifications for all encoded and transcoded files including foreign languages with the expectation of making zero errors or defects.
  • QC and segmentation off all content being stored into NBCU’s serving library.
  • Learn and perform all media prep processes in the Media Operations Center & any additional processes that are created in the future.
  • Provide delivery support of digital media to internal departments, studio needs and external partnerships
  • Troubleshoot basic problems and issues in the media prep workflow following escalation procedure and maintaining client communication.
  • Occasionally provide documentation regarding workflow Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Additional duties as needed and assigned by Supervisor(s).

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • 1 years of experience in a production, post-production, broadcast, or communications environment
  • 2 years of experience in a job or school related activity using computers and software applications including MS outlook, MS Word, & MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of various media formats/VTRs (Digibeta, HDcam, XDcam), file types (QT, WMV, MXF, DNX, DV, etc) and video standards (NTSC, PAL)
  • Basic understanding of digital video/audio including compression codecs, file systems, file transfer applications and Content Distribution
  • Must be willing to work Centennial, CO.
  • Must have unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must have flexibility with work schedule; must be able to work late hours, weekends, holidays and occasional special events when needed for this 24/7 operation
