Overview: As an Estimator at NAYLOR, you will play a pivotal role in our organization by providing accurate and detailed cost estimates for projects. This role involves analyzing project specifications, conducting material take-offs, collaborating with various stakeholders, and preparing comprehensive bids. The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of commercial finishing processes, construction materials, and a basic understanding of project management principles. All levels are available, including internships.
- Review project specifications, blueprints, and other relevant documents to understand the scope of work.
- Conduct site visits, when necessary, to assess project conditions and requirements.
- Quantify takeoff and estimate the amount of materials, labor, and equipment needed for each project.
- Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to gather accurate pricing information.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial finishing projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Develop and submit competitive bids for finishing projects.
- Ensure that bids are compliant with project specifications and industry standards.
- Work closely with sales representatives, project managers, architects, general contractors, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and coordinate with the project team to address any queries.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or project requirements.
- Provide alternative solutions and recommendations to optimize project costs.
- Stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and market conditions.
- Regularly update cost databases to reflect current market rates.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of project estimates, bids, and related documents.
- Provide detailed explanations and justifications for estimate components.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, preferred.
- Strong knowledge of commercial finishing processes, materials, and construction techniques, preferred.
- Proficiency in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse teams.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in estimating.
