Duties

- Assist the Facility Services Supervisor in the set-up for various sports and recreation programs and functions for general facility use and scheduled Intramural, Inter command and All Navy Sports Programs.
- Answers patrons' questions concerning functions in the Gymnasium and their location. Verifies the identification of all persons entering the facility. Patrols the Gym both inside and out, circulating among the patrons to maintain good order and to prevent damage to the facility and its equipment.
- Correct patron actions or behaviors when they commit infractions of the gym safety rules or regulations.
- Incumbent is expected to maintain control of all functions and patrons of the gymnasium. The incumbent is expected to remove uncontrollable individuals from the facility and ask Base Security for assistance when necessary. The incumbent will make an entry in the pass down log and promptly complete an Unusual Occurrence Report when such action becomes necessary.
- Incumbent will assist with conducting events, issue and ensure the return of equipment or gear, operate a cash register, account for funds via Daily Activity Reports, be responsible for the security of a change fund.- Train all shift employees in the proper use and storage of HAZMAT.
- Maintain accurate accountability of assigned POV storage parking spaces, current addresses of customers, current record of payments and accountability of pre numbered receipts and cash.
- Assigns inmates as necessary and assist as necessary to manage the Pat Thompson Recreation Center when assigned. Ensures the facility opened at specified time, sound, lighting, equipment set-ups, such as, awards table, chairs, banquet tables, etc. are in place; ensure all toilet facilities, lobbies and public use areas are clean including entry ways and grounds. When assigned, attend functions as the facility representative and ensure the facility is cleaned and secured following each event.- Operate lighting of outdoor sports fields when assigned and ensure those using the sports fields have reservations assigned through the sports office.
- Collect rental fees for the sports fields, provide a receipt for the collection and account for the revenue. Collect user fees for the gymnasium as appropriate and account for revenues in the appropriate fashion.- Performs work related to inspection, operation, minor repairs and maintenance of equipment and the facilities.
- Performs general housekeeping duties to ensure proper standards of appearance and cleanliness in assigned workspaces.
- Incumbent must exercise tact, good manners and courtesy when serving and assisting customers. This will be expressed by tactfully responding to patron inquiries and assisting in a prompt and friendly manner
- Initiates request for equipment/facility repairs. Orders cleaning supplies and printed materials through the Facility Services Supervisor.
- Incumbent must attend training programs, meetings and maintain currency in CPR.

Specialized experience directly related to the duties described above. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

- Combination of experience related to customer service and or recreation activity based functions.- Must be able to work independently, make sound decisions and have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.- Knowledge of the goals, principles, techniques and procedures used in organizing, planning and conducting leisure time activities.- Knowledge of the Navy MWR mission and the entire scope of Community fitness activities and their suitability for individuals, groups, ages and interests.- Knowledge of the functions, procedures, and operations of fitness activities.- Must have strong customer service skills.- Ability to maintain records, compile and organize data for reports, and perform research on recreation topics for dissemination to customers.- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.- Knowledge of computers, office procedures and print production.
