Summary

This position is located at the Golf Course Branch of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, SUBASE, Kings Bay, Georgia. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the efficient operation of the grounds maintenance and upkeep of the golf course and surrounding areas on a regular basis. This is a flexible position, 0-40 hours per week, with no benefits.

Duties

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of an 18-hole golf course and surrounding areas. Must be able to operate a variety of golf course equipment to encourage grass growth, sodding and reseeding, fertilizing and spraying chemicals to discourage undesirable growths. Rolls greens, resets cups and flags and mows grass. Drives a tractor to perform the grass cutting and course maintenance tasks. May be assisted by golf course laborers.
2. Ensures areas are policed and that trash and garbage are disposed of properly.
3. Makes minor repairs to recreational equipment and gear utilized in the golf course upkeep. Makes minor operator type repairs to power mowers and grass cutting tractors when used, as well as repairs to other tools used.
4. Rakes sand traps and replaces with fresh sand as needed or required.
5. Incumbent performs other related duties as assigned by supervisory/managerial personnel.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
  • Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

Experience must demonstrate the following:

The incumbent must have knowledge of grounds upkeep, maintenance tasks and methods related to basic golf course maintenance. Must be skilled in maintaining and preparing various golf course features, for general use and scheduled events. Must have basic motor vehicle operator skills and license.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
