Navy Federal Credit Union is Hiring a Lead Security Systems Engineer (Azure Data Cloud Engineer) Near Pensacola, FL

Overview

To lead, manage, and develop data sourcing strategies, designs, and implementation for Navy Federal's Security Division. Design, build, and integrate data from various sources in support of predictive and adaptive analytics. This role will work with IT personnel, product owners and multiple teams to build automated data sourcing pipelines needed to support data in alignment with Navy Federal standards and guidelines. May lead functional teams or projects and solve highly complex problems, taking a broad perspective to identify solutions and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the consolidation of data and the migration of data warehousing to the Cloud
  • Lead efforts of identifying data sources and processes in support of highly visible technical initiatives for the Cloud migration
  • Organize the collection, processing, and analysis of data to produce and continuously update the use case queues. This includes managing the data extraction process for the purpose of data warehousing
  • Partner with Security Analytics, IT, and relevant BU SMEs to help teams define and identify data sources, create repeatable data collection processes, and ensure consistent data quality and data ingestion
  • Analyze data to discern lessons learned and action items to improve security detection performance and risk posture; partner with the appropriate teams to help them understand how the data can drive improvements
  • Lead initiatives to fine tune an existing data warehousing, on a SQL Server until its full migration to the Cloud, of member and product information extracted from sources across IT and other departments, including executing data normalization steps
  • Identify and determine acceptable risk tolerance levels to establish information classification standards
  • Monitor Azure pipelines runs to ensure pipeline success or failure and complete root cause analysis
  • Assist in communicating enterprise data architecture to data stewards and management across all levels of organization.
  • Lead and cooperate with Security Analytics on the design and implement data frameworks and pipelines to process data from on-premises and cloud data sources to feed into the data warehouse, monitor data quality and implement related controls
  • Lead the evaluation of existing designs, improve methods, and implement optimizations
  • Lead efforts of ensuring the security and integrity of solutions including compliance with Navy Federal, industry engineering and Information Security principles and practices
  • Lead the analysis and validation of data sharing requirements within and outside data partners
  • Analyze and interpret collected data; identifying trends; writing reports and recommendations for internal or external clients
  • Use statistical practices to analyze current and historical data to make predictions, identify risks, and opportunities enabling better decisions on planned/future events
  • Work with business unit leadership to understand data requirements; propose and develop solutions that enable effective decision-making and drive business objectives
  • Lead and drive best practices for data analysis, data engineering, and evangelize their usages
  • Lead efforts to prepare project deliverables that are valued by the business and present them in such a manner that they are readily understood by project stakeholders
  • Prepare advanced project implementation plans using Agile methodologies, which highlight milestones and deliverables, leveraging standards, practices, and work planning tools
  • Recognize potential issues and risks during the analytics project implementation and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Coach and mentor project team members in carrying out analytics project implementation activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Strong experience using the MS Azure technology stack
  • Strong Azure DevOps - Databricks, Data Factory, Synapse
  • Expert experience in a variety of coding languages (SQL, Python, Notebook, PowerShell)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Azure, Operation Data Integration (OLTP)
  • Familiar with Agile Frameworks (SAFE), Autosys / Workflow, Azure API Management, Azure Data Catalog, Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps, IBM Infosphere, Microsoft Office Products, Microsoft Power BI, Oracle Databases, SQL, Tableau
  • Exposure to Cognos, Hadoop, Informatica, Microsoft Databricks
  • Significant SQL ETL development experience; ability to own and maintain SQL databases, connectors, feeds, and APIs from systems that provide metrics data.
  • Working knowledge of data practices to build data driven solutions, functionalities, and aid in developing cost effective measures
  • Moderate knowledge of relational database management and cloud based systems
  • Familiar with development lifecycle, requirements, and design techniques
  • Familiar with enterprise data strategies and tools use for solutions
  • Familiar with data warehousing, data governance, data pipelines and other analytical techniques required for large data usage
  • Ability to work individually, and as part of a team
  • Experience in risk mitigation
  • Advanced knowledge of information technology systems, processes, and application development
  • Significant experience working with internal audit and external examiners
  • Significant experience collaborating across organizational boundaries and building partnerships across functions
  • Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Advanced research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced skill developing and implementing programs in a leadership role
  • Advanced skill building effective relationships with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, and vendors, through rapport, trust, diplomacy, and tact

  • Advanced skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
  • Advanced verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills to communicate clearly and concisely technical and non-technical information to all levels of management
  • Strong presentation skills: ability to adjust message and filter details based on audience (e.g., technical, business, management)
  • Advanced level PowerPoint and Excel skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to interpret complex mainframe copybooks, and XML data
  • Experience using APIs and data gateways for synchronous/asynchronous data ingestion and distribution
  • Experience with Power BI and data visualization concepts and tools.
  • Experience with data mining, pattern matching, forecasting, sentiment analysis, cluster analysis or similar
  • Experience with Splunk, Archer and ServiceNow is preferable
  • Experience providing technical and data leadership to application development teams
  • Prior experience in the Financial Industry
  • Professional certification in the Microsoft Azure (Azure Cosmos DB Developer, Azure Data Engineer, Azure Database Administrator)
