Job Summary
Serves as fine jewelry and watch sales specialist, responsible for creating and maintaining a knowledgeable, customer focused, productive selling
environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Exercises professional selling techniques and advanced product knowledge to explain, demonstrate, and educate customers on the technical aspects,
features, and benefits and care of "high value" fine jewelry / watch products, options, and price points.
Maximizes personal and departmental jewelry and watch sales performance by providing a positive shopping experience for customers. Develops
clientele listing / cards, and regularly interacts with customers to build repeat business. Actively strives to gain new customers. Maintains records of
customer preferences and buying habits. Contacts customers to advise them of new product offerings, merchandise arrivals, etc. Strives to consistently
attain / exceed individual sales and productivity goals.
Assists customers with jewelry transactions of all types, including sales, trade-ups, returns special orders, and layaways. Makes minor repairs and
adjustments to jewelry items. Maintains a high level of knowledge of NEX jewelry policies and procedures.
Develops and maintains jewelry and watch product knowledge, to include attendance at specific training on watches, gold, silver, color stones, pearls,
and diamonds. Participates in specialized sales training sessions as they are scheduled. Regularly reviews product specific magazines and
publications.
Regularly communicates with buyers, vendors, etc. regarding products carried. Recommends new items to be carried and / or deleted from stock
assortment, based on observations of customer buying habits, "hot" items, etc.
Actively supports the integrity of Exchange information systems. Ensures accuracy of product tagging, paperwork, and register transactions.
Performs periodic inventory counts on schedule determined by management. Conforms to applicable Loss Prevention guidelines.
Performs periodic "on-display"
checks, as necessary. Contributes to daily department maintenance, such as cleaning display cases, fixtures, and jewelry, etc.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE
6 months responsible experience in clerical office or retail sales store work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a full 4 year or senior high school or possession of a General Education Development High School Equivalency Certificate GED may be substituted for the experience requirements.
