The Pharmacist in Charge ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations for the Specialty pharmacy; dispenses prescribed specialty medications; provides functional supervision of professional, paraprofessional, and support staff; and performs related duties as required.
The Pharmacist in Charge is a distinguished professional from a staff pharmacist by the responsibilities for ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations governing the operation of their respective pharmacy including licensing of the pharmacy. The Pharmacist in Charge is responsible for planning and directing the work of the pharmacy operations. The Pharmacist in Charge has full supervisory responsibility for all pharmacy staff (Customer Service, Pharmacists, Reimbursement support, Technicians) at the given pharmacy location. This includes, but is not limited to, oversight of clinical decision-making of staff and periodic consultation with practitioners. The Pharmacist in Charge is accountable for decisions affecting consumers as well as client and consumer complaints/errors. The Pharmacist in Charge will also have a dotted line of responsibility and oversee the implementation of client payers, pharmaceutical manufacturer payers, and physician sales. Future responsibilities may include Infusion services, sterile preparations and compounding.
The Pharmacist in Charge will ensure that all business operations continue in the Specialty Pharmacy in the absence of the General Manager.
