Overview:

  • Skills: Two years of the following experience is required: Maternal and child experience IV Insertion and phlebotomy skill Conscious sedation
  • Education: RN License - required Primary Source Verification - required AHA BLS - required IV Certification - required Head Cooling certification - preferred PDA - preferred Conscious sedation certification - preferred
  • Certifications & Licenses: IV Certification - RN License - NRP

Responsibilities but not limited to the following:

  • Provide quality nursing care to NICU patients
  • Report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions
  • Demonstrate the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care of the neonatal patient
  • Perform neonatal assessment of NICU patients and newborn nursery patients
  • Take care of the preemie
  • Provide intensive care management throughout the treatment episode at the levels of care designated by the use of approved medical necessity criteria
  • Maintain readiness of emergency equipment and supplies in the NICU, stabilization area, and neonatal transport unit
