Navistar, Inc. is Hiring a Category Manager Near Lisle, IL

Position Overview

The Procurement Category Manager will co-lead the Body Components Category Management Team (CMT) with R&D working cross functionally within Navistar interfacing with program management, quality, manufacturing, risk management, finance, and supply chain. As Category Manager you will be responsible for developing and implementing Body Components sourcing strategies, driving cost reductions, supply base management and negotiating and executing agreements. 

The Category Manager’s key activities include, leading strategic sourcing activities, supplier contract negotiations, identifying cost reduction opportunities and overall supplier performance management for cost, quality, and delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for Body Components, with focus on Mirrors, Glass and Wipers to align with Navistar’s business objectives.
  • Lead strategic sourcing decisions and supplier selection for new product launches as well as current business for improved cost, quality, or delivery opportunities.
  • Execute advanced strategic sourcing plans for new programs supporting next generation Navistar vehicles.
  • Research industry trends, global markets, benchmark data, and understand underlying cost drivers.
  • Analyze category spend to identify and develop savings opportunities, with the Body Components CMT using variety of procurement levers including competitive bidding, global sourcing, negotiation, technology, supply chain/footprint optimization, target costing, etc.
  • Build strong strategic partnerships with suppliers to ensure that product quality, on time delivery, and service meet or exceed expectations.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to achieve best overall total cost of ownership and execute legal agreements such as Comprehensive Supply Agreements and Development Agreements.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 5 years of purchasing/procurement experience
OR
  • Master’s degree
  • At least 3 years of purchasing/procurement experience

OR

  • At least 7 years of purchasing/procurement experience
Additional Requirements
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
Desired Skills
  • Procurement background with experience in electrical components in the automotive or commercial vehicle industries preferred
  • Strategic mindset with ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships with different functional backgrounds as well as with different business cultures globally
  • Experience with sourcing components, discovering competitive options and leading negotiations
  • Ability to read, understand, and execute commercial agreements and contracts
  • Ability to understand technical concepts
  • Skilled at developing executive level presentations
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Manufacturing or engineering background a plus
