Naval Nuclear Laboratory is Hiring a Principal Quality Engineer Near Idaho Falls, ID

Job Description

The Spent Fuel Recapitalization Project (SFHP) is seeking a Quality Engineer to support the >$1.5 billion Naval spent Fuel Handling (NSFH) Facility construction project in Idaho. This individual will work with the Quality and Safety Oversight team and use his/her expertise in quality assurance requirements through surveillance of work and audits of compliance to project requirements.

The Quality Engineer is responsible for oversight of the project Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) subcontractor to ensure the NSFH Facility technical and quality requirements are met, and that documentation and records are maintained to support facility commissioning and startup of operations. This position requires knowledge of quality assurance programs and practices applicable to a nuclear facility construction using strict requirements such as ASME NQA-1 2008/2009a. The position requires frequent interaction with SFHP management, the EPCM, construction subcontractors and the government. Participation in field surveillance of work and formal audits is required. The ability to work independently with limited supervision is a must.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 9 years of relevant experience; orMaster's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 7 years of relevant experience; or Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part II qualified; orqualified SIT and 3 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; orCurrently or previously CRE qualified; or6 years as SRE; orSRE qualified and 9 years of experience.

Knowledge and experience with NQA-1 2008/2009a or equivalent nuclear facility quality programs
