Job Description

Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking an entry level electrical engineer for the Lifting and Handling unit at the Naval Reactors Facility located in the beautiful southeast Idaho. This role provides reliability engineering to support maintenance and inspection of cranes and rigging equipment. The selected candidate will also participate in developing and executing project management plans to ensure success of projects which support crane maintenance and procurement. The role includes teaming with other engineers, inspectors, maintenance personnel, planners, and supervisors to maintain, inspect, test, troubleshoot, and perform repairs to cranes and other weight handling equipment. The candidate may also have an opportunity to support the procurement and upgrade of electric overhead cranes by performing equipment evaluations and by participating in the development of design specifications. Work may include design reviews, operations support, safety analysis, and analysis of vendor procedures/systems for quality control. Work systems include various motor control systems such as PLC Control Systems, Variable Frequency Drives, various DC & AC motor drive systems, as well as other control systems for crane and weight handling equipment. Cognizant areas include planning, analyzing, documenting, troubleshooting, and testing electrical components, systems, and equipment. Support peer engineers of different disciplines (mechanical/civil) by providing electrical subject matter expertise.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical engineering; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical engineering.

Pay Range
$61,000 - $93,400 annually
