Natural State Genomics is Hiring a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT & MLS) Near Little Rock, AR

Natural State Laboratories provides toxicology, clinical, genetic, and molecular testing needs of health care facilities in Arkansas and around the country. The ideal candidate will be a positive team player and able to thrive in an environment where change, improvement, and opportunities are the only constant.

We are looking for a self-motivated person who is rewarded by the completion of tasks and by supporting colleagues toward success. Optimal candidates should be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work in a high-capacity setting with minimal supervision. The candidate must have a steady hand, a focused mindset, and the ability to make calculated decisions.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Perform, verify, and report clinical laboratory tests in assigned areas
  • Follow CLIA, OSHA, and HIPAA safety and privacy laws
  • Operation and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation, performing:
    • Calibration and quality control as indicated by CLIA regulation
    • Preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment
    • Troubleshooting laboratory instruments and other analytical errors
  • Maintain adequate inventory
  • Handling and processing specimens through the analytical process

Required Skills

Candidate should possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate a positive, service-minded attitude. Candidates should also have:

  • Working knowledge of general clinical laboratory procedures
  • Pipetting experience
  • Knowledge of specimen processing and handling
  • Understanding of OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard and Universal Precautions
  • General knowledge of LIS/LIM systems

Qualifications and Education Requirements

CLIA requires laboratory testing personnel in moderate-complexity testing to meet one of the following educational requirements:

  • Doctoral degree in clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological science
  • Master's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science
  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological science
  • Associate degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology
  • High school graduate or equivalent and laboratory training/experience consisting of the following:
    1. Must have successfully completed military training of 50 or more weeks and served as a medical laboratory specialist OR
    2. Appropriate training/experience as specified in 42CFR493.1423

Although not a pre-requisite for employment, ideal candidates should be certified through ASCP, NCA, or AMT and/or have at least 3 years of experience in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting.

Option 2 Tues-Fri 2:00p-12:30a

The pay range depends on experience and education.
