ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Conduct clinical mental health and bio-psychosocial assessment to clients with risk of suicide.
  • Provide brief intervention and direct services to individuals identified as at risk of suicide.
    • Psychotherapy and Group therapy, including development of bereavement groups.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of the referral and follow-up process for youth identified as at-risk.
  • Work collaboratively with NACA’s Integrated Health Care Center to ensure screening, identification, and referral processes are complete.
  • Work collaboratively with NACA’s Reach UR Life team members (Mental Health Specialist, Case Manager, Program Data Specialist, etc.) to ensure grant requirements are met.
  • Work with the Reach UR Life Training Coordinator to develop a workforce-training plan for Zero Suicide Initiatives within NACA and with program partners.
  • In collaboration with program team, develop and implement a zero-suicide initiative within NACA.
  • Provide clinical assistance and expertise in the development of the following program elements:
  • Bereavement support groups. – Clinical responses to suicide prevention activities.
  • Maintain the appropriate level of licensure and supervision necessary to practice behavioral health in the State of Arizona, independently, or under supervision.
  • Provides presentation/trainings centered on youth mental health and cultural concerns to other organizations or agencies, as appropriate/necessary.
  • Provides all clinical services to clients with the utmost of ethical standards and conduct, doing so in accordance with AZBBHE standards, ACA/ACSW ethical guidelines, and in line with the scope of NACA’s mission statement and vision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirement

Master’s degree in social work, counseling and/or human services or related field and two (2) or more years of previous experience in direct counseling services. Must be Licensed at the Associate level with direct experience assessing and managing suicide risk. Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC). Preferred: Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). This position is covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Due to this requirement, the agency must ensure that persons hired for these positions have not been found guilty of or pleaded nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes. Must be current with required immunization per the NACA HR Policies and Procedures and Infection Control Policy. Level I Fingerprint Clearance, CPR, First Aid, and HIPAA Certification. Possess a valid Driver’s License. Must pass a criminal background investigation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge in children’s mental health and related services system with demonstrated experience working with family systems, demonstrated ability to foster collaborative relationships.
  • Knowledge and experience in the assessment and management of suicide risk.
  • Familiarity with American Indian culture(s), society and working knowledge and respect for the American Indian culture, traditions, and customs.
  • Knowledge of Zero Suicide Initiatives.
  • Excellent community outreach capabilities.
