Native American Rehabilitation Association is Hiring a Substance Abuse Admissions Specialist Near Portland, OR

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Admissions Specialist is responsible for providing assistance to the Admission Supervisor and will provide information to requesting agencies and/or individuals. The Admissions Specialist also assists in the admissions of all clients entering residential chemical dependency treatment.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist in processing telephone requests from various agencies (tribal programs, alcohol and drug programs, individuals, correctional systems, etc.) and individuals to assist them with information regarding treatment and the requirements of the Residential Treatment Component.
  • Send admission packets to requesting agencies/individuals and record contact.
  • Review information upon receipt of admission packets. Work closely with residential medical team to assure all necessary medical information is received.
  • Obtain approvals and schedule time lines for date of entry as per waiting list.
  • Implement and monitor waiting lists for both families and singles. Inform Supervisor each week as to status of waiting list and scheduled residents.
  • Prepare resident files and resident folder for new residents.
  • Complete residential admission paperwork with each new resident.
  • Attend and contribute ideas and specific plans at staff meetings for the improvement of services.
  • Prepare monthly residential report of resident census.
  • Assist or prepare monthly residential report for Grants Officer.
  • Provide assistance to Admission Supervisor in gathering information for daily census.
  • Input MOTS information upon admission
  • Maintain daily Excel census report and client waiting list/admission dates
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Attend relevant training as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prefer one year’s previous experience in the chemical dependency treatment field.
  • Proficient in Excel and Word software programs
  • Candidate must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Candidate must demonstrate a disciplined empathy for individuals recovering from chemical dependency/abuse and have an understanding of the illness concept of chemical dependency/abuse.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, the community, and other staff members.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, other NARA staff, team members, and to treat everyone with respect and dignity at all times.
  • Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community is considered a plus.
  • If in recovery, must have a minimum of two years sobriety/clean time.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests.
  • Ability to pass criminal background and DMV checks.
