POSITION SUMMARY
The Clinical Dentist has the responsibility for the ongoing development and implementation of comprehensive system of dental care for NARA. The Clinical Dentist will work to provide leadership in developing and implementing collaborative and integrated services with NARA and its culture. This person will closely and collaboratively with the Medical Director, accepting cultural guidance and support, to achieve the highest quality of services and best outcomes for clients and community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures culturally appropriate dental services
  • Must be able to provide care and maintenance for the patient’s oral health
  • Maintains necessary credentialing, licensure and CE requirements
  • Assists, develops and maintains relationship with the 9 Oregon tribes and other tribes across the country, the State of Oregon and other healthcare entities
  • Develops and maintains relationships with the Native community and ensures their involvement in program design and operation
  • Represents NARA locally, statewide, and nationally as needed
  • Participates in and leads agency events and planning efforts
  • Develops and implements an integrated system of care for dental services throughout NARA
  • Works collaboratively with all components of NARA to provide the best services possible
  • Ensures programs are developed to meet client needs
  • Ensures client utilization of services is appropriate
  • Develops and monitors client outcomes
  • Ensures consultation between all disciplines and external sources when needed
  • A Doctor of Dental Medicine degree or a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from a college or university accredited by the American Dental Association required.
  • Possession of a valid license to practice dentistry issued by the State of Oregon required.
  • Have or be able to obtain a Controlled Substance Registration Certificate required.
  • One year of dental clinic or professional work experience required.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, the community, and other staff members.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, other NARA staff, team members, and to treat everyone with respect and dignity at all times.
  • Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community is considered a plus.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests.
  • Ability to pass criminal background and DMV checks.

NARA NW is fully committed to supporting sobriety.
