Job Summary

The Pharmacist's primary responsibility is to oversee pharmacy operations, which includes managing drug dispensation and inventory. They work closely with healthcare practitioners to optimize patient care, supervise pharmacy technicians, conduct quality control checks, and address patient inquiries. The Pharmacist ensures adherence to standard operating procedures and compliance with safety, quality, accuracy, potency, and cleanliness standards. Furthermore, they uphold full compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing pharmacy practice and drug distribution in this role.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee all pharmacy functions and operations.
  • Enforce pharmacy policies, laws, and procedures, holding employees accountable.
  • Supervise prescription compounding and ensure its accuracy.
  • Manage and supervise pharmacy technicians in compounding, filling, labeling, prepackaging, and shipping medications.
  • Ensure all technicians are licensed and trained according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Possess knowledge of non-sterile compounding, including capsules, oral liquids, topical medications, troches, tablet triturates, etc.
  • Maintain working knowledge of USP <795>, USP <800>, and USP <71> standards.
  • Consistently meet standards of accuracy, pharmaceutical elegance, and potency.
  • Ensure compliance with DEA and FDA regulations.
  • Understand PMP reporting requirements and accreditation and inspection procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with PCAB and other standards.

Skill and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
  • Arizona Board of Pharmacy-issued pharmacist license
  • Experience in compounding (desirable)
