D.M. Bowman, Inc. began in 1959 when Don Bowman climbed into his used B 61 Mack tractor and trailer to haul coal. Don operated the tractor and trailer as an owner-operator with the dream of one day having 10 trucks. Don Bowman founded D.M. Bowman Inc. which obtained its first ICC Authority in 1966, adding several trucks to transport bricks from Williamsport, MD to locations outside of the state. What You’ll Do

D.M. Bowman, Inc. is actively seeking a Director of Fleet Maintenance for our fleet of over 300 power units. This position will be located at our Williamsport, MD terminal but will cover our shop facilities located in MD, NC, IN, and PA. Our shops cover general maintenance, collision repair, engine repair, and trailer repairs.

This exciting and dynamic position will be responsible for operating an efficient and profitable maintenance department through appropriate staffing, customer retention, and cost management. They will ensure the daily availability of bay space, inventory, and technicians at each shop facility.

The Director of Fleet Maintenance will be tasked with building an internal and external service reputation based on unparalleled customer support, honesty, and integrity to surpass customer expectations. This position is responsible for the business development of shop services within all service areas.

General Responsibilities (not all inclusive):

• Develop specifications and obtain pricing for new equipment.
• Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of all managers and provide input for the management of all shop staff.
• Ensure scheduling of all regular, overtime, holiday, and vacation to provide support for all shop services.
• Schedule training as necessary to comply with manufacturer agreements and guarantee the technical knowledge of shop staff.
• Ensure compliance with all State and Federal laws as well as with D.M. Bowman’s policies and procedures.
• Serve as a liaison with factory representatives and make regular customer sales calls.
• Establish and maintain relationships with vocational and technical schools to enhance technician recruitment program.
• Manage the operation of the used truck sales lot.
• Evaluate metrics and adjust activities to meet or exceed performance expectations.
• Suggest efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures, and assist with the implementation of changes within fleet.
• Utilize and maintain upgrades to maintenance systems and tracking software.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• CDL preferred.
• 7 years maintenance management experience required.
