Job Summary & Role and Responsibilities:

A fiber technician plays an integral role in the telecommunication industry – keeping us connected through telephone, high-speed internet, and television. They install and maintain fiber cables, as well as provide technical assistance in the designing and testing of fiber optics. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, running, and installing fiber optic cables, ensuring that they work properly. Examine and replace faulty and/ or old fiber optic cables. Take care of fiber splicing and rectify fiber optic problem areas. Execute premises cabling and take care of the underground and underwater cabling requirements.

Job Location: Indiana - Evansville

Job Description: We are seeking a skilled fiber technician with an existing CDL to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for fiber construction and support also will be transporting materials, equipment, and personnel to various job sites in Indiana while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities:

Fiber construction – Underground or Aerial

Splicing Fiber (if certified, if not, company will train)

Safely operate company vehicles, including trucks and other specialized equipment, to transport materials and personnel.

Load and unload materials and equipment, ensuring proper handling and securement.

Transport and install fiber optic cables and related equipment at job sites in Indiana following project specifications and safety guidelines.

Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any maintenance issues or concerns.

Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, mileage, and delivery logs.

Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and team members to coordinate job assignments and ensure timely completion of tasks.

Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while operating vehicles.

Requirements:

Valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with a clean driving record.

Previous experience as a CDL driver, preferably in the telecommunications or construction industry.

Knowledge of fiber optic installation techniques and equipment.

Ability to safely operate and maneuver large vehicles in various road and weather conditions.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification or training in fiber optic installation and maintenance.

Experience with specialized equipment such as bucket trucks or splicing machines.
