Details of the Family Practice Physician opening:

• Anticipated start date: ASAP
• Anticipated schedule: Full Time, Monday-Friday
• Salary: $115/ hr

Daily Range of Responsibilities of the Locums Family Practice Physician:

The Family Medicine Physician at Denton State Supported Living Center is responsible for the effective delivery of high-quality medical services to individuals with intellectual disabilities served.

Work involves direct delivery of clinical practices and monitoring of medical services, participating in treatment team process, advocate for the medical needs of persons service, and working with the individual's families, Family Nurse Practioners, and with consultants and community medical providers in other medical specialty areas.

• Order, perform, and interpret tests and analyze records, reports, and examination information to diagnose condition
• Consulting with patients to understand their symptoms and health concerns
• Advise clients concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses and coordination of care services to effectively treat orthopedic and medical conditions, such as hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, asthma
• Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury
• Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments
• Compliance with HHSC and facility documentation timeframe requirements
• Provides and monitors facility Standard Operating Procedures to meet standards for compliance with accrediting agencies; specifically, Medicaid Medicare guidelines, CMS Standards, DSSLC Policy and Directives and HHSC Standards, Rules and Directives

What You’ll Need to Qualify for this Role:

• Graduated from an accredited college of medicine with a degree as a medical doctor
• Must be licensed as a medical doctor by the State of Texas with no sanctions
• Must have current registration certificates from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Texas Department of Public Safety Controlled Substance Board
• Must possess a National Provider Identified (NPI#) as defined by Medicare Part B
• Copies of CPR certifications must be kept on file with DSSLC’s Contracting office
• All certifications must be current and remain as such while providing services at the Denton State Supported Living Center
