General Function

We are seeking an experienced individual for this exciting director role. Candidate will be responsible for managing NRF projects and initiatives which align with the Center for Digital Risk & Innovation’s (CDRI) strategy to develop best practices and guidance for retailers on key technology issues.

Essential Functions

  • Support the strategic planning and member and partner outreach in support of CDRI and other related industry technology efforts
  • Support engagement with key technology focused NRF member councils, including the CIO Council, IT Security Council, and AI Working Group, and the development of agendas for meetings of these councils
  • Write technology-focused content for NRF reports, newsletters, blog posts, and other written products
  • Conduct direct research and analysis to support Center projects and deliverables
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on technology issues in NRF’s engagement with the news media and other external stakeholders
  • Assist with managing partnerships with and external consultants to the Center and support performance measurement and reporting with respect to these partnerships and consulting agreements
  • Engage with other teams within NRF (including communications, content, government affairs, marketing, membership, and research) and support their tech-focused 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, a major in technology or public policy preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years work experience focused on technology issues, including artificial intelligence and/or cybersecurity (experience in Congressional office, tech-focused executive branch agencies, think tank, news media, consulting and research firms, other associations, and policy or strategy roles at retail companies a plus)
  • Strong writing and analytical capabilities, including the ability to synthesize complex technology issues for non-technology audiences and write concisely about the issues
  • Must have a strong interest to independently engage in continuous learning around artificial intelligence and cybersecurity
  • Experience with research methodologies and survey tools
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Exceptional communicator with the ability to engage in public speaking, including at NRF conferences and other public events
