National Park Service is Hiring a Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist Near Lowell, MA

This position located in Lowell National Historical Park, in the Maintenance and Facilities Management Division.

Qualifications:

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-01/12/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect either full-time or 40 hours per week. If a part-time work schedule is reflected, the hours must be annotated to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. You MUST include number of hours worked.

EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Effectively led a facilities maintenance team including planning, coordinating, executing, and monitoring the work of others; evaluates performance and provides feedback; planning maintenance activities and preventative maintenance programs for a facility; estimating materials and labor costs for a variety of maintenance projects or contracts; collaborates with partners to create and prioritize park projects, plans and programs; develops spending plans, contract requirements, complex project proposals, and estimates using project management systems.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team that creates and implements strategy for a dynamic facility management program.
  • Manage the team and resources that provide for the upkeep and operation of multiple facilities and outdoor spaces within a park campus.
  • Serve as principal advisor to the Superintendent's Office on facility management, maintenance operations, preservation of historic structures, and safe workplaces and practices.
  • Oversees the administration and fiscal responsibilities of the facility management program.
  • Coordinates and develops long and short term plans for a complex year-round facility management program.
