Job Summary:

The Compliance Coordinator position of the Plant Ops department is responsible for the compliance of hospital campuses and off-campus buildings with local, national, and federal codes & regulations, and any other regulatory agency or firm conducting surveys for National Park Medical Center. Supports the organization’s commitment to comply with all federal, state, and local standards, with an emphasis on compliance.

Essential Responsibilities

Assist with planning Environment of Care programs to ensure compliance with all rules and regulations.

  1. Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal, State, Local and jurisdictional codes and agencies maintaining adequate written compliance documentation.
  2. Manages work order system, including preventive and corrective maintenance, work orders and reporting capabilities are completed in a timely and responsive fashion.
  3. Performs facility inspections to verify conditions of each designated location of the hospital.
  4. Attends educational seminars as required to maintain up to date knowledge and skills as they relate to Life Safety Management and Environment of Care.
  5. Maintains documentation for the hospital to ensure compliance with the computerized Work Order/Preventive Maintenance Building Maintenance Program as it relates to Joint Commission, Environment of Care, and Life Safety.
  6. Maintains written documentation for all regulatory agency requirements. An electronic copy of all written documentation is maintained.
  7. Maintains and documents all issues reported during Life Safety regulatory surveys and participates in the development of and monitors action plans as required.
  8. Creates Plant Ops Work Orders to implement corrective action plans to address and resolve survey findings.
  9. Schedules and accomplishes multiple tasks appropriately adjusting completion targets with new task assignments and fluctuations in the requirements of the Departmental and Hospital operations.
  10. Creates and negotiates written service contracts, prepare invoices, project estimates, and establishes written specifications.
  11. Tracks corrective action plans to ensure completion within time frames agreed upon.
  12. Maintains compliance schedules and interacts with Lead Mechanics to ensure that all equipment under regulatory compliance is monitored with all maintenance and testing conducted within the proper timeframes.
  13. Maintains and makes available all documentation for any survey requiring facility compliance information.
  14. Schedules and attends meetings to report and follow-up on status of all corrective action plans for the various survey findings.
  15. Interact with consultants and regulatory agencies for clarifying Fire, Life Safety, and other Codes for compliance.
  16. Participates in Life Safety surveys and building tours by regulatory agencies.
  17. Participates in Environment of Care Committee. Coordinates efforts with direction from the Safety Officer.
  18. Confirms that required safety training and/or drills are conducted according to schedule.
  19. Maintains the Plant Ops Utility System policies manuals.
  20. Oversees contractor safety training and compliance in accordance with Health System policies.
  21. Maintains professional growth by keeping abreast of appropriate regulatory agency requirements related to accreditation.
  22. Monitors, and distributes work order for an effective preventive maintenance system to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, Department of Health, and manufacturer requirements. Ensures that scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance programs are completed in a timely and responsive fashion.
  23. The job duties of this position take this person beyond the office out into the facility to gather data for various inspections.
  24. Organizes and schedules Plant Ops Employee Evaluations.
  25. Maintains and develops policies, procedures, and task assignments for testing and maintaining Plant Ops Utility Systems Manual.
  26. Actively oversees, leads new Sustainability Survey repair programs to keep the hospital within regulatory compliance for Life Safety and Environment of Care.
  27. Oversees and makes recommendations on professional services contracts for facility regulatory.
  28. Provides knowledgeskills, and abilities when requested to Plant Ops personnel looking for assistance on regulatory compliant documentation and preventative maintenance best practices.
  29. Offers knowledgeskills, and abilities when suggested by LifePoint’s Environment of Care and Life Safety Directors and Managers to other LifePoint hospitals looking for support on regulatory compliant documentation and preventative maintenance best practices.
  30. Negotiates contracts for testing and inspection and preventative maintenance compliance contracts.

Job Qualifications

  • Education

Required: High School Graduate or equivalent

Preferred: Associates Degree in Computer Science, Business Management or related field

  • Experience

Required: Five years of experience professional, business office environment. Five years’ experience with proficiency in Microsoft computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel, and Power Point)

Preferred: Five years’ experience Plant Ops database & regulatory compliance documentation. Quality Control experience.
