National Park College is Hiring an Upward Bound Curriculum Coordinator Near Hot Springs, AR

Description:
National Park College seeks a creative and energetic full-time Curriculum Coordinator for the TRIO Upward Bound program. This federally funded TRIO program assists eligible first-generation, underrepresented students in target schools within Garland County to develop the skills needed to succeed in high school, and enroll/complete a postsecondary degree.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Identify and actively recruit eligible high school students to participate in the Upward Bound program on an annual basis
  • Engage in outreach efforts by preparing written communication, flyers, and newsletters to disseminate program information/services to key stakeholders including target school personnel, students, and parents outlining program benefits
  • Develop curriculum for weekly advising meetings, eight Saturday Scholars (annually), and assist with hiring, training and managing six-week intensive summer component
  • Maintain confidential student academic records, attendance, participation in program activities and counseling contacts
  • Collect summative and formative data related to program goals and objectives to assist the director in the preparation of federal, college and other reports as required
  • Oversee the hiring, training, and managing of Summer Academy instructors/staff, and help with development and implementation of the summer component
  • Coordinate and lead student-centered college and university campus visits
  • Advise high school seniors and parents with completion of financial aid/scholarship and admission applications
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff campus-wide for the overall good of the program
  • Assist with managing satellite teachers within target schools
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience:
  • Master’s degree in education, public administration, counseling or related field required
  • Two or more years of work experience in a higher education setting with financial aid, admissions and student advisement experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with TRIO federally funded grant programs
  • Experience working with first-generation and economically underrepresented students
  • Familiarity of completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Required Skills and Ability:
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Capability to meet deadlines and work ahead
  • Experience using software (i.e., Canva, Kahoot, Survey Monkey)
  • Comfortable speaking to large groups
  • Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and in a diverse team setting
  • Must be able to walk long distances when touring campuses and participating in enrichment activities
  • Must have a valid Arkansas driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs
