Senior Director or Associate Vice President, Insurance Accounting

The position will be filled at the Senior Director or Associate Vice President level depending on the experience level of the candidate.

Summary

National Life Group is seeking a highly qualified Insurance Accounting expert to join our Finance team in one of the fastest growing life insurance companies in the country. Reporting directly to the Controller this position will play a critical role in driving the success of the National Life's Finance organization by provide subject-matter expertise and leadership to key initiatives. This position includes working on special projects and ad-hoc strategic initiatives, and requires significant interaction with colleagues throughout the Finance organization as well as a variety of partners in functional areas throughout the company.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and participate in key Finance and Accounting projects such as implementation of LDTI accounting standards, Lawson Ledger and other future initiatives.

* Oversee all aspects of the general ledger including chart of account maintenance, associated reporting structures, and integrity of financial data and systems.

* Provide leadership and subject-matter expertise in the area of reinsurance accounting and reporting.

* Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to ensuring compliance with GAAP and statutory reporting requirements.

Job Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in accounting.

* 12 years' experience preferred.

* Insurance experience a must (GAAP and Statutory Reporting).

* Must have detailed general ledger experience.

* Must have a proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

* Ability to work well in a team environment.

* Ability to work independently, within time constraints and reporting deadlines.

* Drive efficiency through automation and streamlining of accounting processes.

The base compensation range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual bonus, quarterly bonuses, commissions, and other long-term incentive compensation, depending on the position.
