Position Description: Associate Developer will be responsible for supporting the business and project development activities of the company’s pipeline of projects within their respective market(s).  Duties: 
  • Complete project development tasks, deliverables and processes including site acquisition and negotiation. 
  • Support team’s efforts to identify market opportunities for developing utility scale solar, utility scale wind and battery storage projects 
  • Work with a remote team, including land agents and consultants 
  • Coordinate via clear communication interdepartmentally with Financial Modeling, Engineering, Construction, Real Estate and Permitting team to ensure project viability. 
  • Assist with community outreach including local governmental units, local agencies, organizations, open houses and community members about project development 
  • Participate in policy outreach efforts regarding regulatory and permitting issues  
  • Engage relationships with project partners and landowners 
  • Represent National Grid Renewables with federal, state and local officials, regulators, utilities, RTOs, and other stakeholders throughout the project development process. 
  • Work closely with the permitting team on obtaining entitlements (land use permits, environmental permits) for each project 
  • Assist development team in compiling the data for interconnection applications. 
  • Research local land use ordinances for applicability to solar development 
  • Attend public hearings and represent the company and project 
  • Provide input on project budgets 
  • Travel typically around 35% (Up to 75% for unique projects) 
  • Manage development budget up to $500k 
  • Support development of 1-3 early/mid stage projects and late-stage project tasks as assigned 
  • Other duties as assigned 
Experience: 
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience and prefer one year of relatable development experience (energy, real estate, housing development, etc.)  
Education: 
  • College degree  
  • Preferred areas of study include land use planning, economics, environmental policy/sciences, or business
