The Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Administrative / Office support for individuals age 55 and over to support the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through a grant administered program through National Experienced Workforce Solutions ( NEW Solutions).

This is a unique program where your talents, expertise and experience will truly be valued. You'll be working side-by-side with EPA staff that are doing important work every day.

Pay rate : $19.21 / hr. Benefits : Paid Health Insurance Premium if working 60 hours in a 2 week pay period, Paid Accrued Vacation, Paid Accrued Sick Time, Eleven Paid Federal Holidays, One Individual Holiday, and optional Vision and Dental Insurance available.

This position does require a background check prior to onboarding. Must be a United States Citizen to be eligible for this position.

Qualifications :

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Maintenance OR BA / BS Degree

Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook

Duties :

Responsible for activities related to the construction, maintenance, repair and upkeep of buildings and grounds for a Federal Radiation Laboratory.

This will include construction activities or renovation of buildings, maintenance and upkeep of plumbing, heating & air conditioning, electrical and other systems, minor repairs to machinery or other equipment, and general maintenance of grounds and lawns.

• Conduct daily walk throughs of the facility to check building systems and equipment to include but not limited to air handlers, boilers, generators, chillers, scrubbers, and air compressors and report status to the Facility Manager 10%
• Performs maintenance tasks as required by the Facility Manager 35%
• Maintain and repair light fixtures; receptacles; switches; replace light bulbs; make electrical repairs 10%
• Install, replace, alter, maintain, and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, traps, faucets; makes repairs to lab dishwashers, kitchen equipment, and other equipment using water or air including other feed lines and returns or waste disposal lines to include laboratory acid drains 20%
• Conduct monthly and quarterly inspections of emergency eye wash stations and showers 5%
• Conduct monthly inspections of fire extinguishers; work with Maxwell AFB Fire Department to keep them maintained. Maintain a complete inventory of all campus fire extinguishers and their location to include annual and hydrostatic checks 5%
• Responsible for the operation and cleanliness of the Small Warehouse to include the operation of an electric forklift. 5%
• Hangs, patches, textures, paint sheet rock and drywall to cover, repair, or create various finishes on framed, existing, or damaged walls using various hand, power, and specialty tools and materials. 10%

• Safety Training and Quality Control Training provided by the EPA
• On the job training as well as in house training provided by NAREL
• Health and Safety Considerations : On the job training and training sponsored by NAREL
• Required Safety Gear : Gloves, hardhat, goggles, safety glasses
• Safety Gear Use : PPE should be work dependent on the task being accomplished
